Metric fits an Apple Health dashboard workflow across workouts, sleep, nutrition, and longer-term health trends. Strava is a strong option when your priorities include routes, segment efforts, and sport-specific training analysis. Decide which task you need to complete; similar-looking effort scores are not interchangeable.

A runner’s choice: route planning or the week in context

Suppose you want to plan a route and compare repeated efforts on a climb. Strava’s route and segment tools are directly relevant. If you instead want to review that week’s recorded workouts beside sleep history and nutrition logs, start with Metric’s Apple Health dashboard. These are different jobs, and you may value both.

Training load does not mean the same thing everywhere

Metric weights session duration by heart-rate intensity and compares recent load with a slower baseline. Strava documents Relative Effort and Fitness & Freshness as its own training tools. Similar labels do not establish equivalent formulas. Compare the contributing activities and missing data before comparing headline values.

Can Metric replace Strava?

That depends on what you use Strava for. A health dashboard does not by itself replace a route-planning workflow or the segment comparisons you already follow. List your three most-used tasks and inspect them in each product. This comparison does not promise direct account migration, automatic two-way synchronization, or transfer of your social history.

Before changing your setup

Check device compatibility, available source data, and the current paid feature list. Keep workout-source permissions deliberate and inspect a familiar session for missing samples or duplicate records. The best fit is the workflow that answers your question reliably; there is no universal winner in this comparison.
