Metric vs. Athlytic (2026): Which Apple Watch Health App Fits You?

Athlytic is a focused recovery and training companion; Metric is a broader Apple Health and longevity dashboard.

Choose Athlytic if your main question is how recovered you are and how hard to train using Apple Watch data. Choose Metric if you want one Apple Health-centered view that also covers sleep, heart and body trends, workout load, nutrition logging, a biological-age estimate, and social features. Athlytic is the more focused training tool; Metric is the broader healthspan product. Neither is universally better.

The short version

Athlytic goes deeper on a tight loop—recover, set an exertion target, train, and review. Metric connects that loop to more of the health record and to daily behaviors such as nutrition.

Where Athlytic is the stronger fit

Athlytic is easier to recommend when the decision is narrowly athletic: “How recovered am I, what exertion should I target, and how did today’s workout compare?” Its official listing centers Recovery on HRV and resting heart rate, pairs it with Exertion and Target Exertion, and adds workout logging, Target Sleep, Journal tags, Trends, and a 24/7 Health Monitor.

  • You already wear an Apple Watch consistently, including during sleep.
  • Recovery and workout exertion are the main reasons you open a health app.
  • You do not need nutrition logging or a broader longevity workspace.
  • You value complications and widgets that keep the training loop close to the watch face.

Where Metric is the stronger fit

Metric fits a wider question: “How do my training, sleep, heart, body, blood-pressure, activity, and nutrition patterns fit together?” It still offers readiness, strain, workout tracking, and training load, but those sit inside a broader health dashboard. Metric also adds nutrition capture, a biological-age estimate and contributors, Cortex for exploring your data, and optional social profiles and live workout experiences.

  • You want fewer separate apps for fitness, sleep, nutrition, and longer-term trends.
  • You care about seeing the measurements behind an estimate, not only a daily recovery score.
  • Nutrition, body composition, blood pressure, or healthspan trends matter alongside workouts.
  • You want social or shared-workout features in the same product.

Device requirements

Compatibility may decide the comparison before features do. Metric currently requires iOS 26 and watchOS 26. Athlytic supports iOS 17 and watchOS 10.6. Athlytic’s listing says an Apple Watch is not strictly required, but that most features need the Watch to collect HRV and resting heart rate.

Limitations and fair-use caveats

  • Neither app can repair missing Apple Health history, inconsistent wear, or denied permissions.
  • Readiness and recovery scores compress several inputs; different formulas can reasonably disagree on the same day.
  • A feature omitted from an official listing may still exist, so this article treats omissions as “not a current headline feature,” not proof of absence.
  • The comparison does not rank sensor accuracy or health outcomes; it compares current product scope and workflow.
  • Both products change frequently. Recheck official listings for supported devices, requirements, and feature availability.

Bottom line

Pick Athlytic for a focused Apple Watch recovery-and-exertion companion. Pick Metric when training is only one part of the healthspan picture you want to manage.
